The City of Centerville invites community members to join in honoring veterans at its annual Veterans Day Celebration on Monday, November 11, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Cornerstone Park, located at 5210 Cornerstone North Blvd.
Cornerstone Park is being used as a temporary location for the ceremony during the Stubbs Park Improvement Project.
The ceremony will begin with the Presentation of Colors by representatives from Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9550, Centerville Police Department Honor Guard, and Washington Township Fire Department Honor Guard. Following the presentation, the Centerville Community Band will lead attendees in the National Anthem “The Star-Spangled Banner.”
Mayor Brooks Compton will provide opening remarks to welcome and thank the veterans, families and community members. Pastor Tony Miltenberger will deliver the invocation, setting a respectful tone for the morning’s proceedings. Additional music will be performed by the Centerville Community Band, including the “Armed Forces Medley,” a tribute to the branches of the U.S. Armed Forces, and “God Bless America,” sung by Julia Thompson.
The program will feature remarks by keynote speaker Colonel Travis Pond, Deputy Commander of the 88th Air Base Wing at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. Col. Pond will share his reflections on the significance of service and the impact of the dedication shown by our veterans.
A special acknowledgment will be made for our 2024 Veteran Honorees for their contributions and commitment to the nation.
