Exposed to Toxins? New Benefits Can Help.
As of March 5, 2024, veterans will be eligible for benefits related to health issues caused by exposure to toxins. The VA has rolled these benefits out years earlier than required by the 2022 PACT Act, which originally provided them.
In the past, many veterans have had difficulty receiving benefits related to health problems caused by toxic chemicals from sources such as burn pits. The PACT Act makes it easier to receive treatment without onerous requirements to demonstrate a connection between the medical condition and the exposure.
Need help signing up for benefits? The Montgomery County Veterans Service Commission is here to help. Contact the VA through our website, at 937.225.4801, or at veteransinfo@mcohio.org.
In 2019, we joined with StoryCorps, the national story collection project. This series features the stories of people who support veterans in Southwest Ohio. Most of them are veterans, too.
The most recent episode was Montgomery County Veteran's Service Commission's own Steven Strain talking about Veteran Suicide Prevention.
The work of the Miami Valley Veterans Services Commission is only possible if we're able to reach the veterans that need our help. Do your part and forward it to your veteran friends. Ask them to go subscribe: https://mcvsc.org/subscribe
