The Montgomery County Veterans Service Commission (VSC) is pleased to offer free legal services for Veterans. Montgomery County’s VSC is the first of Ohio’s 88 VSC offices to offer legal services to Veterans.
Last year, the Montgomery County VSC found that many local veterans needed legal assistance. Most sought legal help with housing issues such as foreclosure and eviction. Veterans also had questions regarding creditor calls and consumer issues.
The new Legal Counsel position will provide free consultation and advice to all Veterans who request assistance. Currently, legal representation is limited to:
Housing Issues
Debt Collection
Administrative Law Issues
Last Wills and Testaments
Power of Attorney documentation
Attorney Steven Strain serves as Legal Counsel for the Montgomery County Veterans Service Commission. Attorney Strain is a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps where he served as an infantry rifleman with the 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marines. Strain is a graduate of Wright State University and the University of Dayton School of Law.
While the Veterans Legal Counsel position cannot provide representation in all matters or situations, all Veterans are welcome for a free legal consultation. The five-member Veterans Service Commission and Attorney Strain are excited and honored to provide this new resource to Veterans in the community.
Veterans residing in Montgomery County will receive priority.
