Registration is now open for the National Veteran Small Business Coalition (NVSBC) Dayton Engagement Lunch for Wednesday, April 9th in Beavercreek. The event will focus on government contracting and feature Lynda Stafford of Stafford Business Consulting as the speaker. The topic of Lynda's speech will be, "How to Not Get Burned in GovCon as You Continue to Grow Your Business."
You don't have to be a NVSBC member to register, so if you own a local business and are interested in government contracting be sure to sign up. |

Vetrepreneur Franchise Academy | | | The Vetrepreneur Franchise Academy is a free 10-step, 10-week class that turns veterans and military spouses into business owners. Veteran franchising experts will lead you and your classmates through group and individual sessions to get you into franchise ownership.

Dayton VA Fires Portion of Staff as Part of Nationwide Cuts |

| | As part of large cuts to the federal government, VA has let go of over 1,400 employees nationally. The Dayton VA in accordance with these cuts they have released a "small number" of probationary staff.
Dayton VA officials say this will have no negative effect on Veteran healthcare, benefits or other services, and “will allow VA to focus more effectively on its core mission of serving Veterans, families, caregivers, and survivors,” according to a spokesperson. |

| | | | Dayton VA Substance Use Disorder Clinic Information & Programs | | | Dayton VA has released a public service announcement detailing their Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Specialty Clinic and the services it provides.
If you or a veteran you know suffers from a substance use disorder, you can contact Dayton VA as a walk-in, through your VA Primary Care physician, or by calling 937-268-6511, ext. 2188. |

| Services available to veterans include:
- Alcohol and drug evaluations
- Alcohol and drug group and individual therapy
- Medications to assist with alcohol cravings
- Medications to address opioid use disorder
- Medications to help reduce the potential for overdose
- Ambulatory detoxification
- Contingency Management Program for Veterans with a stimulant use disorder
- Tobacco cessation treatment
- Gambling addiction treatment
- Anger management for Veterans with a substance use disorder
- Veteran-only 12 Step Groups in Building 302, Dayton VA Medical Center. Meetings are on Mondays at 1:00 p.m. and Thursdays at 5:00 p.m. You do not need to be engaged with Mental Health to attend. No appointment is required.
- Sober support coffee hour in Building 302, Dayton VA Medical Center. Meetings are on Wednesdays at 4:00 p.m. and Fridays at 5:00 p.m. Meetings are open to all Veterans in recovery. You do not need to be engaged with Mental Health to attend. No appointment is required.

Buying a Home? Get a VA Home Loan. | If you're a veteran, you don't have to settle for a traditional mortgage. The VA Home Loan program is open to veterans looking to purchase a home. While the loans are still through traditional lenders, such as banks, VA will guarantee a portion of the loan, which allows you to receive a more favorable rate and terms.
VA also offers several other housing benefits, such as housing grants to help veterans build or modify a home adapted to their disability. VA also offers foreclosure avoidance assistance and interest rate reductions through refinancing.
