Suicide Prevention Month | September is Suicide Prevention Month, an annual observance dedicated to raising awareness about suicide, remembering those lost, and connecting those in need with resources and support. Mental health advocates, organizations, and community members worldwide use this month to unite and promote suicide prevention efforts.

| | Submit Your Veteran Photos! | The Montgomery County Veterans Service Commission is putting together a calendar for 2026. We're looking for photos of veterans that speak to patriotism in the Miami Valley. The photographs need to be high resolution. You can upload digital copies or we can assist with scanning physical copies.

| Montgomery County Veterans Service Commission is Hiring an Executive Assistant/Case Manager | The Executive Assistant/Case Manager serves a dual role, supporting the Executive Director in administrative functions and providing case management services to eligible veterans and their families. Under the direction of the Executive Director, the position supports agency operations while coordinating services for indigent and at-risk veterans, in need of social, medical, housing, financial assistance including peer support, advocacy, and connection to essential resources to promote economic self-sufficiency.
Applicant must be a veteran who has honorably served in the Armed Forces of the United States pursuant to O.R.C. § 5901.07 requirements.

Dayton VA Medical Center Holds 20th Anniversary "Stand Down" Event | Dayton VA Medical Center held its annual "Stand Down" event, which seeks to help veterans, especially ones experiencing homelessness. The event provides resources to veterans in need and also functions as a social gathering for local veterans. Dayton VA Medical Center provided health screenings, mental health treatments, and substance abuse treatments.
The "Stand Down" event is over, but the professionals at the Dayton VA are always available to provide care. If you need assistance and you're not sure if you qualify for VA care, contact the Montgomery County Veterans Service Commission and we'll help you determine your eligibility status, apply for benefits if applicable, and direct you to other local resources to support veterans. | | | |

Dayton VA Receiving Building Upgrades | | | The buildings at Dayton VA will see some upgrades soon with improvements to the electrical and steam distribution systems and cath lab improvements.
Using money freed up from various Veterans Health Administration reform efforts, VA hospitals throughout the country will have access to an $800 million fund for maintenance and repairs. |
