Oftentimes VA provides great coverage for our medical care, but you still need to get there. Fortunately, eligible veterans can receive transportation reimbursement from VA. Travel in a personal vehicle can be reimbursed at a rate of .415¢ on the mile. Get pre-authorized and you can also get reimbursements for public transportation or rideshares. In cases where specialized medical transportation is necessary, those costs may also be covered.

Don't Qualify?

You may still be eligible for transportation assistance from the Montgomery County Veterans Service Commission. If you do not have transportation to medical appointments apply with MCVSC to see if you qualify for our transportation assistance program.

This year's Honor Flight will lift off from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base on September 21st. The program sends veterans who served anytime from the beginning of World War II until the end of the Vietnam War a "trip of a lifetime" to see the monuments in our nation's capital and other significant sites. Priority is given to terminally ill veterans.

This year the trip will take veterans to Washington D.C. Veterans who wish to apply will need to have a guardian able to accompany them.

The liftoff this year will be extra special, with a free concert at Wright-Patt to celebrate the flight. The event is open to the public, but you will need to order (free) tickets while they're available. Also be sure to review the security requirements as the event takes place on the base.
